This was a piece I created for the St. Croix Art & Culinary Show titled Saturn's Return.
In astrology, Saturn's Return occurs every 25-30 years in your life - it's when the planets are aligned in the same position as the year you were born. A lot of changes happen during these times...if you look at your own life you will see the pattern. A lot of people experience this as what is referred to as a "mid-life crisis", it's Saturn's Return. But this period of change isn't always bad - it's usually a time of growth and change and magic.
It was raffled off and I got to pull the ticket and it was won by Jeanne, incidentally, my bestie's aunt!
She was so excited about winning - and after I shared the backstory about the print, her eyes got kind of watery and her smile grew. Jeanne was planning on hanging this in her new office - she was going through quite a transition herself...
I am so happy this piece is going to someone I know, but even happier to know it is going to someone who is knee-deep in Saturn's Return and it holds meaning to her.
Art is my own magic: it's vulnerable and painful sometimes, (a lot of the times, people don't understand it) but sometimes it surprises me and transforms into a much greater magic - one I can't explain - but it's 100% beautiful.
